Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Batch A121 is uncut, unfiltered, and bottled straight from the barrel. The “A” denotes the first batch of the year, “1” is the month in which it was released (January), and “21” signifies the year of release. Elijah Hill Barrel Proof is very complex and takes little to no effort to enjoy, as the flavors just leap out of the glass. Simply amazing!
According to the label on the back of the bottle, Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon “is considered one of the world’s greatest Bourbons.” Long-term fans agree. The small batch process provides a more balanced and smooth whiskey. This pleasant, warm Bourbon from the Heaven Hill family is matured in charred oak barrels and has an ABV of 47%.
Larceny Small Batch Bourbon
A blend of six to twelve year old bourbon, this whiskey pays homage to Pappy Van Winkle’s original bourbon recipe.
The famous bourbon brand Old Fitzgerald was named for John E. Fitzgerald, who according to a family biography of Pappy Van Winkle may have been a rather more colorful character than we imagine!
Fitzgerald, it seems, was a bonded treasury agent, one of the only people to carry keys to the storage warehouses. Apparently he also had a taste for the very finest bourbons and didn’t mind helping himself! It was this infamous character with the fine palate who was immortalised by the brand back in the 1880s.
Nose: Warm bread, toffee, and a dash of butterscotch.
Palate: Rich with caramel, orange blossom honey, and bread pudding.
Finish: Long, layered, and savory.
